About our APU platforms
Semmco has been designing and manufacturing access platforms and steps for more than 30 years. The range enables aircraft engineers to safely and easily access difficult to reach areas of an aircraft such as the APU. The Semmco APU Platform range enables the engineers to inspect, maintain or remove the APU from several different aircraft and, depending on the situation, can be fixed or variable height, towable or moved into position manually.

About our APU platforms
All large commercial aircraft have an Auxiliary Power Unit on board, usually located in the tail of the aircraft. The Auxiliary Power Unit or APU allows an aircraft to operate autonomously without reliance on ground support equipment such as a ground power unit, an external air-conditioning unit or a high pressure air start cart.
Semmco has designed and manufactured a range of platforms specifically to help engineers service this area and our range includes:
B737 APU Towable Line Maintenance Platform
https://semmco.com/products/b737-apu-towable-line-maintenance-platform/
This platform is designed to provide safe working on and around the APU of a B737. It is manufactured from lightweight aluminium so is easy to manoeuvre and is fitted with slip resistant tread on the steps and the platform. The platform is supplied complete with handrails and ‘soft’ padding to the railings and edges to prevent any damage to the aircraft. This platform also has a steel chassis so that it can be towed and has ‘kick down’ stability jacks to secure it in position.
Variable Height Wide Body APU Change Platform
To cater for the wide body aircraft, Semmco has developed this Variable Height Wide body APU Change Platform that has a height range of 2.75 – 5.25m. This platform is particularly helpful when changing, inspecting or working on and around the APU and eliminates the risks associated with using ‘fish poles’. The platform can accommodate 4 – 6 engineers and it is remotely controlled, raising it to the height required.
B737 APU Platform

This fixed height, APU Platform is designed to be used in the hangar and is fitted with sliding sections in the working platform so that the APU can be lowered through the platform floor and onto a transportation cradle. Like all Semmco platforms, it is manufactured from lightweight aluminium and so is easy to move into position, underneath the APU. The platform edges and railings are fitted with ‘soft’ padding to protect the aircraft.
A320 APU Platform

The A320 APU Platform is designed to be used in the hangar. It has a robust steel chassis and lightweight aluminium construction and is easy to move into position, underneath the APU. The centre of the working platform has sliding sections that part to allow the APU unit to pass through and onto a transportation cradle. This moving section or sliding fingers, are manually operated with a gear driven, locking system.
Our APU platform applications
Accessing the APU on an aircraft and then being able to carry out maintenance activities is a difficult procedure and the range of APU platforms from Semmco make this task much easier. Semmco has designed and manufactures a range of APU platforms suitable for different types of aircraft and all of the platforms are manufactured from lightweight aluminium so they are easy to move around the confines of a hangar and position directly underneath the APU.
Once in position, engineers can access the area safely and easily and the platforms are fitted with railings and non-slip work surfaces and stair treads. Some of the APU platforms are fitted with a tow bar and all have stability jacks to secure the platforms in position.
Why Choose Semmco?
