Intelligent Engineering: Where It Began
For over twenty five years Semmco has been dedicated to designing innovative solutions for a safe and efficient working environment across a number of critical industrial sectors.
Founded in 1993 by Managing Director Stuart McOnie, Semmco entered the market with a range of engineered solutions for service companies at Heathrow Airport building nitrogen generating systems as well as developing nitrogen and oxygen panels.
In 1999 , following a trip to a trade show in Miami, Stuart identified an opportunity to manufacture aluminimum variable height access steps for different types and sizes of aircraft. These aircraft steps enable engineers to carry out maintenance safely and easily. He also realised the potential for this product in other sectors, including rail and developed a new product range that focused on ground support equipment for the aviation market and safe access equipment for the rail industry.
Semmco is now a global business operating across Europe, the Middle East, Australasia and North America. In 2017 Semmco opened a maintenance and assembly facility in Dubai to serve its expanding customer base in the Middle East region as well as acting as a staging post in delivering its products to Australasia.
Customers include British Airways, Virgin, Lufthansa, First Capital Connect, Hitachi Rail, Alstom, Qatar Airlines, FlyDubai, Royal Airwing, Cathy Pacific, BAE Systems, Rolls Royce, Airbus, American Airlines, TUI and EasyJet
In 2019 Semmco’s US office was opened in Arlington, Texas. Building on the company’s heritage and reputation supplying GSE solutions for narrow and wide bodied aircraft over the last 25 years to the States, the USA facility will provide local support and elite servicing to its North American clients – an impressive roster including JetBlue, Air Canada, Delta and American Airlines.
