Semmco’s renowned range of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) are in use at critical engineering hubs around the globe. These engineering bases support the world’s leading airlines with aircraft maintenance operations, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of aircraft ready for on-time departures.
The company recently supplied a leading airline with a Wheel and Brake Service Trailer, with a wheel divider, nitrogen system and shadow board (for tools) at its engineering base in Sydney Airport. Prior to the purchase of the new Semmco trailers, the maintenance team needed to round up various pieces of tooling and equipment before they could start work but now they have a one stop shop, with everything they need, self-contained in a single mobile unit.
As a long-standing customer, familiarity and confidence in the quality and reliability of Semmco’s products was already established, with the company having previously purchased a Wheel and Brake Changer.
When the new trailer arrived on site, the only minor modification the team made was to the fittings for the nitrogen bottle. This was a straightforward task, and the trailer was operational the same day it was delivered.
Located on the coast at Botany Bay, Sydney Airport presents unique challenges for equipment durability due to the highly corrosive environment caused by constant exposure to sea salt spray. As a result, the customer required a robust, weather-resistant, and self-contained unit to support its aircraft maintenance operations. The Trailer itself incorporates a galvanised steel chassis, steel side and roof frames and the front and side panels are made with GRP and plastic-coated marine ply, making it suitable for all weathers.
Throughout the procurement and delivery process, the Semmco team in the UK provided full support, with prompt solutions to all queries, from initial discussions right up to collection and shipping, ensuring a seamless experience for the customer.
Since integrating the Semmco trailer into their workflow, the team has seen a significant reduction in response times for all wheel changes. The unit is easy to unpack and repack, making it always ready for the next job.
Will McOnie, Semmco Managing Director, said: “Designed and made in the UK, we export our products around the world to customers who are providing critical aircraft maintenance and engineering services, that ensure safe and efficient airline operations. Many of our customers are long standing and return to us confident that Semmco products are built to the highest standards and are reliable. We build these enduring partnerships through excellent pre and post-sales support and our customers know they can rely on us for their GSE needs.”
